West Ham hope to use their good relationship with Barcelona – which was nurtured after the Alex Song deal last summer – to get the deal over the line.
It is not clear if it is a loan deal or permanent move that is being discussed for the 19 year old, but the Metro claim that whatever happens the Hammers will face competition from Arsenal and Everton.
El Haddadi spent time at the DAV Santa Ana and Atletico Madrid academies before arriving in Barcelona in 2011.
If the deal is a permanent transfer, it is thought West Ham will have to pay Barca somewhere in the region of £5 million to secure his services.
