FIFA have announced that the first ever winter World Cup will take come to a conclusion a week before Christmas on December 18 to allow players to be back at their clubs in time for the round of fixtures on Boxing Day, The Sun reports.

The decision was reached on Thursday morning at FIFA’s headquarters and now seems to seal give the tournament a green light to go ahead following much debate over whether it should be allowed to be played.
A number of concerns have been raised about holding the tournament in the Middle Eastern country due to the desert heat, it’s laws on homosexuality and the treatment of the workers currently building the stadia, amongst other reasons.
The organisation have also confirmed that France has been chosen ahead of South Korea to hold the 2019 Women’s World Cup.
