City are resigned to losing James Milner and with it another of their ‘homegrown’ contingent, and as such it’s not a huge surprise that the big spending side are keen on bringing in fresh English talent.
Barkley is a player who could boost Man City’s midfield whilst Anfield starlet Sterling is stalling on signing a new Liverpool contract, leading to speculation over his future at Liverpool.
Brendan Rodgers would be loathed to lose Sterling but also does not want to be held to ransom with regards to the England international’s wage demands.
