The striker scored a lovely finish past Hugo Lloris after bursting through the defence, before running over to the supporters and acting out a boxing match, which ended with Rooney collapsing to the floor.
The celebration was in reference to a video that emerged this morning of Rooney getting involved in a boxing match with former teammate Phil Bardsley. The Stoke City defender appears to knock the England captain out. But Rooney’s light hearted homage to the incident may put the speculation to bed.
