The Dortmund captain has seen his side staring relegation from the Bundesliga in the face for much of the season, yet his strong performances over the past few campaigns, particularly for Germany, has seen the centre-back described as the ‘complete‘ defender.
LCB – John Terry – Chelsea
Amazingly, the Blues skipper continues to improve with age, and his reading of the game in defence makes him one of the world’s very best in the position.
LB – Alex Sandro – Porto
The Brazilian was excellent in their last 16 victory over FC Basel, showing his versatility in having to switch flanks in the second-leg.
