Arsenal travel to Old Trafford looking for a first win away to their old rivals for nearly eight and a half years, and Smith admits he fears for the Gunners as they face a tough task to defend the trophy they won last season.
Writing in his column for the Daily Telegraph, Smith said: “That is what favours Van Gaal’s team here — an apparent mental block within their opponents to get the job done on occasions like this. It has been eight and a half years since Arsenal won at Old Trafford.
“For my old team at least, this is about conquering that old hurdle known as belief.”
