According to the source, Manchester United are big admirers of the Brazilian, who Louis van Gaal views as the perfect solution to his current full-back issues.
The player’s agent has already discussed a £100,000-a-week, three-year deal for the 31-year-old, and it looks as if a move could well be completed – providing the Red Devils qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Speaking ahead of the Catalan’s weekend game against Granada, Enrique said: “Dani’s one of the nicest guys in the dressing room and a winner. I know him both professionally and personally. He’s a true example to everyone [at the club].
“It wasn’t the first time he left the pitch sad or angry. It happens to many players. My team selections show I have confidence in Alves. He’s a unique player and the appropriate people will make a decision [on his renewal].”
