The midfielder is already missing their Champions League game against AS Monaco on Tuesday night, despite having trained with the squad in the build up to the fixture.
Manager Arsene Wenger has now insinuated that he may not be available for their Premier League tie on the weekend in his programme notes for the last 16 encounter, with the England international recovering from yet another ankle problem, an issue that has plagued him over the last few years.
His boss said, “(Wilshere) didn’t train on Tuesday because he was rested, but he has trained hard until now and has not had a setback. I don’t think he will play this evening, but should be available soon. Everybody else who featured at the weekend is available.”
The Gunners currently have several injuries in the midfield, with Mikel Arteta, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey, and the perennial member of the treatment room Abou Diaby all ruled out for the foreseeable future.
