Arsenal’s 19-year-old wonderkid striker Chuba Akpom gave Gunners fans a view of what may be to come, showing off some nifty footwork before smashing home an absolute screamer in the warm up at yesterday’s FA Cup fifth round tie against Middlesbrough.
Arsene Wenger was keen to take Boro seriously, with the Teesside outfit having knocked out Premier League champions Manchester City in the previous round, and as a result, Olivier Giroud was preferred to Akpom up front.
However, the Arsenal boss will have noted Akpom’s impressive strike – and with Danny Welbeck misfiring, the teenager could push on and become Giroud’s nearest challenger.
