“We need a big squad to do that and we certainly have the squad to compete on three fronts at the moment,” said Gibbs to the Daily Mail..
Despite being just one point off the top four, and a Champions League second round tie with Monaco coming up, the 25-year-old revealed that retaining the FA Cup is still an important target.
“We are just hungry to defend the (FA Cup) trophy.”We are not just going to think that because we won it last year, it is not in our priorities because all three competitions are,” he added.
One of the major criticisms of Arsene Wenger’s tenure has been the apparent lack of investment in the playing squad but this season, the Arsenal chequebook has been busy bringing in the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers in the summer with Krystian Bielik and Gabriel Paulista signing in January.
In the past decade Arsenal have come up agonisingly short in the league on numerous occasions, but with the strength in depth now available to Wenger, it may not be too long before the Gunners mount another title bid. Gibbs believes that with the current squad, there will be no collapse next time the league is in their grasp.
