The Argentine’s impressive form this season, which has seen him score 15 goals in all competitions, has led him to be linked with a number of clubs away from Serie A.
However, Inter director Piero Ausilio has hinted the club are quite sure he will commit his future to them.
“We have already sat down with his agent two or three times to discuss a new deal,” Ausilio said to Gazzetta dello Sport.
“For now, I would like to remind people that he signed a five-year deal when he arrived here. His contract does not expire any time soon, so there is nothing to worry about.”
The news will come as a blow to the likes of Man United, Chelsea and Liverpool who were all reported to be interested in acquiring his services.
There were rumours the 21 year old could be on the way out after refusing to celebrate a brace against Palermo but Ausilio said this had nothing to do with his contract talks.
“The fact that he did not celebrate his last goals has nothing to do with the contract talks,” he said.
