It’s probably a wise choice. The club have failed to make the post season in the MLS for an incredible eight consecutive seasons – quite an achievement given the league enforces club parity through its draft system and 12 of the 20 sides qualify for the playoffs.
“We bought the song,” said Tim Leiweke, President and CEO of the side. “We think this is very appropriate as to the message we’re trying to create with our fans, which is ‘OK, we get it. We screwed it up and we’ve gone eight years [losing]. But can you find within yourself to love us one more time because we think we have it right.”
The club have spent heavily in the off season on Sunderland flop Jozy Altidore and Juve reject Sebastian Giovinco.
