Twitter inevitably voiced their shock at yesterday’s incident – and the sacking has caused another social media outburst:

Nigel Pearson has done a good job for Leicester overall. Afraid he loses a lot of sympathy, though, after his weird Gripper Stebson routine.

If you see Nigel Pearson in the street, don’t bump into him. Protects his personal space with a swift neck-lock & likes a bit of verbal too

Shocked to hear Nigel Pearson being sacked. Not a @premierleague manager but does well in Championship. He has done @OfficialFOXES proud

I assume Nigel Pearson will grab the opportunity to find a new job with both hands.
