Despite Peralta’s miss, America won 1-0 against last season’s runner up Tigres. Benedetto scored a header, his first goal with America, after a pass from fellow new-boy Darwin Quintero.
Tigres had a few chances to tie the game but couldn’t convert any of them.
With the result America are now sixth with 7 points and Tigres remain stuck in fifteenth place with only 3 points in 4 games.
