The young Norwegian is thought to have impressed so much since making the move to Madrid that he warrants a place in the 25 man squad, and he could become the knockout stage’s youngest ever player should he make an appearance – beating Celestine Babayaro’s record from his Anderlecht days.
It is thought that Odegaard’s impressive debut for Real Madrid Castilla, their second team, where he scored one and made two assists was behind the thinking of his inclusion.
The youngster was linked with moves to both Liverpool and Manchester United before moving to Real Madrid from Tippeligaen side Stromsgodset.
At Castilla, Odegaard will be under the stewardship of Zinedine Zidane, and there’ll be few better to learn from than the footballing magician. Only time will tell if he can develop his talent as is hoped, however.
