Liverpool Great Names Striker Reds Should Sign In The Summer
The England international recently returned from a series of injuries that had kept him out of the side since the end of August, and naturally after scoring against West Brom in his first game back, hope grew among Liverpool fans that he could start the match against the Reds’ fierce rivals.
However, Rodgers has played down the chances of that happening. The Northern Irishman wants to build up the striker’s fitness over the next few weeks.
“He’s very determined to make up for missing five months of the season but he’s also realistic as well, looking after his fitness,” Rodgers told BBC 5 Live. “He had 25 minutes at the weekend, looked very sharp and we want to build that up over the weeks.”
The Merseyside club go into the match against the Toffees needing a win to keep up their charge on the top four. Liverpool are unbeaten in seven Premier League matches, and find themselves seventh in the division – only four points off the Champions League qualification places.
