Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has labelled the Valley Parade pitch ‘one of the worst in the country’ and has invited their FA Cup 5th Round opponents Bradford City to play at the Stadium of Light according to the Daily Mail.

The Black Cats will make the trip south to West Yorkshire a week on Sunday and it is thought Poyet may ask the club for assurances over the playing surface before their meeting.

Poyet said, “I’ll invite them to come to the Stadium of Light. Our pitch is great. We can ask them to change the venue, but I don’t think they’ll accept that.”

He continued, “Maybe we’ll have to play a little more direct. Maybe I’m going to ask the groundsman at our training ground to mash one of the pitches and train on it the week before.

“We are already talking about their pitch, which everyone knows is one of the worst in the country. So that is going to make the game different. It won’t be a passing game.”
