The one-time England international striker is alleged to have shocked staff at the West Bromwich Albion training ground as he vented down the phone to Sam Allardyce shoting, “You’re ******* ruining my career!”
The tirade came 20 minutes before the transfer window slammed shut after the crestfallen striker had already completed a medical and agreed personal terms on an 18 month deal.
Cole had earlier rejected a move to QPR and although his manager at West Ham was apparently sympathetic to his situation the striker was in no mood to accept his compassion.
It is thought Hammers had no option but to bring the striker back as they failed to agree a deal with Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy for the loan signing of striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
