Liverpool are readying a bid for Shakhtar Donetsk striker Luiz Adriano following the failed attempt by AS Roma to land the Brazilian according to the Daily Express.

The 27 year old had looked set to move to the Stadio Olimpico but their offer has been flatly rejected and when you take a close look at the bid tabled by the Serie A side it’s not hard to see why the Ukrainian side wouldn’t be interested in selling.
Rudi Garcia’s side offered an initial £1.5m to loan Adriano for the remainder of the season followed by another £5m to sign him outright, a combined fee that is surely well below the player’s value.
Brendan Rodgers would do well to bring in a striker signing this month as he seeks to secure that all important top four slot and Adriano may well fit the bill.
Neither Rickie Lambert nor Mario Balotelli have impressed since their respective summer moves to Merseyside and with Daniel Sturridge having missed most of the season thus far there is a real need to boost Liverpool’s attack as they seek a top four finish.
Adriano has netted 122 goals in 253 appearances for Shakhtar Donetsk and his nine Champions League goals this term indicate his ability to score at the highest level.
