Real Madrid star avoids serious punishment…
Cristiano Ronaldo has been handed a two-match ban after his red-card for a violent outburst in which the Real Madrid attacker kicked out at Cordoba defender Edimar on Saturday, reports the BBC.

The Portugal captain endured a frustrating game of football against Cordoba and was involved in two controversial incidents – first Ronaldo seemed to throw a punch at Jose Angel Crespo, and then he lashed out with a kick on Edimar.
The referee missed the earlier punch but was dismissed on 82 minutes for the kick…
The 29-year-old apologised for the sending-off:
Pido disculpas a todos y especialmente a Edimar por mi acto irreflexivo en el partido de hoy.
— Cristiano Ronaldo (@Cristiano) January 24, 2015
(Translation) – “I apologise to everyone and especially to Edimar for my thoughtless act in today’s game.”
Nevertheless, the Ballon d’Or holder has now been handed his punishment and will miss Real’s next two games – against Real Sociedad and Sevilla.
Ronaldo can certainly consider himself fortunate to have not been banned for longer, but will be desperate to return to top-form when his two-match ban ends.
