The 29 year old is no nearer to penning a new Etihad Stadium deal and has been strongly linked with an Anfield switch, with speculation of the move being rife even prior to Steven Gerrard’s announcement regarding his move to the MLS.
The England man could offer Brendan Rodgers a solid, if not spectacular, option as a replacement for the veteran skipper and clearly such a move would be cost effective.
The chance to sign a player of Milner’s standing on a free transfer is clearly not one to pass up and the likes of Arsenal, Napoli and Inter Milan are all eyeing up the Man City utility man.
Milner cost Man City £26m but over the past two seasons has been used on a limited basis and therefore it’s perhaps no surprise that the former Leeds United, Aston Villa and Newcastle United man would be considering his options ahead of a possible exit from the Premier League title holders. Milner’s actually enjoying arguably his beast season in a Sky Blue shirt, but the chance to cash in a huge signing on fee, and the guarantee of more first-team football, could see him hold out for a move elsewhere.
