Yes, you heard that right.
The man the United faithful once chanted was better than Cesc Fabregas (no really), has been nothing short of an incredible failure with the Red Devils after Mendes somehow orchestrated a move from Porto in 2007 for a figure just shy of £30m pounds.
If anything it shows just how good the man is at his job.
And despite playing just 70 league games and scoring five goals in his entire career in Manchester or the fact he has had just one start this season, Anderson still believes he can make a go of it with Louis van Gaal’s side.
Perhaps even more incredibly, he blames his lack of game time on injury rather than, you know, his portly figure or general lack of ability. Incredible.
“The first four years were fantastic and then an injury set me back, I was very sad and it was difficult for me to recover,” says the quite rotund midfielder in an extract from the book.
“This year I’m working really hard to try and regain the confidence of the coaches, because I have a lot of love for this club. I really like Manchester, I’ve spent a long time here and the fans have a lot of affection for me.”
I don’t think affection is the right word…
