The young Baggies marksman has scored nine goals in 18 Premier League starts this term, almost half West Brom’s total goal output, and as such one imagines they would demand a fee far higher than the offer on the table.

Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers has seen Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert both fail to make an impact since their summer moves to Merseyside and with Daniel Sturridge sidelined for much of the campaign there is a very real need to bring in another goal-scoring option in January.

Tottenham are also apparently interested in Berahino and that could help drive up the England Under 21 international’s price and newly installed West Brom boss Tony Pulis may feel that the chance to cash in on the youngster could help accrue the funds to perhaps sign two or three new additions this month.

Berahino may well be courting a high-profile move though in many ways another season at West Brom could perhaps be a wiser long term option, so as to help secure a solid grounding of top tier experience.
