Despite the consistently selfless and impressive performances of former Lyon striker Benzema whilst in the white shirt of Real Madrid, he is constantly being linked with moves away from the club, as is now the case with the report suggesting that Carlo Ancelotti will move for Cavani as the new spearhead for his attack.
The Uruguayan generally plays second fiddle to evergreen Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the Parc des Princes and is likely to jump at the chance to move to the Spanish capital, as long as he is able to play regular football.
This is only likely to be the case if Benzema is moved on, with Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez and Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as Isco, all having to be fitted into Ancelotti’s system – meaning that Real will fund their move for Cavani by flogging Benzema for around £40m, with Liverpool interested.
