Arsenal secured a rare win over one of the Premier League’s top sides away from home after a fine display from the first to the final whistle.
The north London side took the lead on 24 minutes after Vincent Kompany brought down Nacho Monreal in the box, Santi Cazorla sweeping the spot-kick home.
Man City looked strangely out of sorts and their midfield certainly missed the presence of Yaya Toure, away at the African Nations Cup, and Wenger’s side netted a second mid-way through the second half.
The mercurial Cazorla’s floated a teasing free-kick into the box and Olivier Giroud expertly headed past Joe Hart to put Arsenal in the driving seat.
Arsenal saw out the game comfortably and could have added a third and their three point haul brings them within touching distance of the top four.
