Arsenal have also been said to be after the Borussia Dortmund star.

Chelsea and Arsenal have been given a major boost in their quest to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus with the German club denying any form of deal is in place with Real Madrid.

There were reports in Spain earlier this week that Real Madrid would sign Reuss when the 25 year old’s €25 million release cause comes into effect this summer.

However, Michael Zorc, Sporting Director of Borussia Dortmund, has quashed speculation by insisting no such agreement is in place.

“You know, I’ve been confronted with this question about Reus’ future for years now,” said Zorc, reports London Evening Standard.

“Almost every week I hear about such rumours. There’s no new developments, we want to continue working with Marco Reus for the long haul.”

Reus is currently out injured after suffering ankle ligament damage in November but is expected back at the end of the month.

“I can understand Marco. He first wants to play again and then he wants to see which direction to take,” said Hans-Joachim Watzke, chief-executive of BVB.

“I have a legitimate hope that he will stay for the long term. If not, it is something we will have to accept.”

If Reus leaves he will be another in a long line of top class stars that have left Dortmund in the last few season with the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Mario Götze heading to direct rivals Bayern Munich.

And more could be on the way with Mats Hummels continually linked with a move away from the Bundesliga giants and Ilkay Gundogan’s future hardly looking secure as he heads towards the final year of his contract.
