Waris has frequently been linked with a move to Old Trafford since last summer’s World Cup, with scouts making several trips to watch him in action, which they will do again at the African Cup of Nations this month.
Waris has been named in the Ghanaian squad for the tournament, and Haciosmanoglu has suggested that he could be out the door in the summer if he continues to impress.
He said: “Lille and a few English clubs are interested in signing Waris.
“Lille were also interested in Waris before we signed him. However a player cannot play for three different clubs in one season so he will have to wait until the end of the season.
“We know Manchester United are monitoring him too.”
The 23-year-old only joined the Super Lig giants in September 2014 for a fee of just £4.2m, though he could be set for an early departure if United opt to overhaul their squad again.
One wonders what chance Waris would have of forcing his way into Louis van Gaal’s first team set-up with the likes of Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney being present. If you factor in the possible return of loaned out Mexican Javier Hernandez, then clearly his chances would be further limited.
