Louis van Gaal’s side have not been all that assured this term and Republic of Ireland man Coleman would offer a far superior player to the likes of Chris Smalling, Rafael and Luis Antonio Valencia, who have been the Dutch manager’s options on the right-hand side of his back-line.
This source states Coleman as being valued at £25m which would represent a massive profit on the £60k the Toffees paid Sligo Rovers for the player back in 2009.
Given that Everton sit just three points clear of the relegation zone it’s plausible that Coleman would be tempted by a high-profile move to Man United.
A move to capture Coleman may prove more likely to come to fruition over the summer, especially if van Gaal has secured a top four finish.
Van Gaal has spent over £150m on improving his Old Trafford squad but feels the need to once again splash the cash if his side are to clinch a Champions League berth.
Coleman is into his sixth season at Everton and has made 164 appearances for the Merseyside outfit and is stable operator at the back and a real threat in the final third.
