The Frenchman signed Sanchez from Barcelona for between £30-35m during the summer transfer window, and the Chilean forward has proved an instant success in English football.
The 26-year-old has scored 18 goals in all competitions, 12 of which have come in the Premier League, and his fine displays earned him praise from his fellow countryman Pellegrini, manager of Arsenal’s opponents this weekend, Manchester City.
City themselves have a top South American talent on their hands in Sergio Aguero, but Pellegrini still argued that Sanchez is the best player in England at the moment after his superb form in north London.
Speaking about Pellegrini’s praise, Wenger said: “It’s a great compliment because Pellegrini knows football well.
“I agree with him – at the moment Sanchez is one of the top performers in the league.”
Sanchez scored a wonder-goal against City in these teams’ last meeting, a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium back in September.
