Everton could lose striker Samuel Eto’o in the January transfer window, according to boss Roberto Martinez…

Samuel Eto’o could leave Everton this month, according to his manager Roberto Martinez, who has admitted that he’s been contacted regarding the player’s availability – with Sampdoria among the club’s in contention.

Reports on Goal.com claim that the striker has become frustrated with life at Goodison Park in recent weeks, as he’s remained stranded behind Romelu Lukaku in the club’s pecking order.

Eto’o was left out of Everton’s squad as they crashed out of the FA Cup on penalties to West Ham, and according to the source, Martinez has revealed that the veteran’s future will be decided in the coming days, despite stating earlier in the week that he would not be allowed to leave.

“A couple of clubs contacted us in the last 12 hours so I decided to leave him [Eto’o] out. We will see what is best for all of us,” he told reporters.

“We have a great relationship with Samuel and we will see what is best for him and us over the next few days.”

The 33-year-old has only made eight appearances in the Premier League so far this season, scoring three goals. He joined the club from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, but has not made the desired impact.
