The 21-year-old has been compared to fellow Argentine and the Premier League’s current top-scorer for this season Sergio Aguero and Brendan Rodgers will be hoping Vietto has the same impact at Anfield as the 26-year-old has had at Manchester City.
Rodgers is looking for an adequate replacement for Luis Suarez, who has left a significant void in the Reds side since leaving the club for FC Barcelona over the summer.
Mario Balotelli was signed from AC Milan for £16m, but the Northern Irishman has admitted that the Italy international does not suit his style of play and could be sold as early as the January transfer window.
It would be something of a big ask for Vietto to emulate Aguero and Suarez however, with the former having scored an incredible 93 goals in 143 matches for City since signing from Atletico Madrid for a club record £38m in 2011, whilst the latter netted 82 in 133 for the Merseysiders.
Vietto joined Villarreal from Racing Club in his native Argentine in August for £4.85m and has since scored 12 times in 23 appearances.
