Liverpool transfer news
The Reds forward has been highly disappointing for the club since his £16m move from AC Milan in the summer and could now return to his native Italy after just six months at Anfield.
Balotelli is yet to score in the Premier League this season and has put in some lacklustre displays that now seem to have put his Liverpool future into serious doubt.
Napoli are willing to take a gamble on the 24-year-old, who has also previously played for Manchester City and Inter Milan in something of a nomadic career so far.
Liverpool want to make changes upfront and could make the risky decision to replace Balotelli with Fernando Torres, who seems set to be available this winter after a failed loan spell at Milan from Chelsea.
