The defender has ruled out a move to Old Trafford…
Manchester United have a number of defensive targets on their radar, but they may have to strike Diego Godin’s name off the list.
The Uruguayan centre-back has insisted that he’s happy at Atletico Madrid and denied that he’s interested in going elsewhere.
“Right now I’m in the best moment of my career, and I’m happy to spend it at Atletico Madrid,” Italian football site TuttoMercatoWeb quote the defender as saying.
“I’m happy here, but in my heart is the desire to return home [to Uruguay].”

Manchester United’s endlesss succession of defensive injuries have lead to speculation that the Red Devils will be forced to make a move for another defender in January. Godin was one of several big-names linked with a January move, but now Louis Van Gaal may turn his attentions to other options.
28-year old Godin has been at Atletico since 2010 after joining from Villarreal, where he made his name as one of the top defenders in La Liga. His performances last season were key as Atletico Madrid managed to win the Spanish top division and reach the Champions League final. Godin scored in the final against Real, but his side were eventually defeated.
