Experienced Swiss international Lichtsteiner is out of contract with Juventus at the end of the season, leading to speculation that he could be lured away from Massimiliano Allegri’s side, with Manchester United mentioned as the most likely suitors by the Star report – although Arsenal and Chelsea are also mentioned.
Formerly of Swiss outfit Grasshoppers, Lille and Lazio, Lichtsteiner is a consistent and physical performer who has been a lynchpin of his national side’s rise to prominence in recent seasons, whilst he has taken on the right back role with Juventus on a permanent basis this season after the departure of Mauricio Isla to Queens Park Rangers.
Lichtsteiner has the physical attributes and desire to be considered as the stereotypical Premier League player, which explains the interest in one of the crucial parts of the Juventus side that has dominated Italian football in recent seasons, but it would appear that the best of the Premier League are all set to miss out.
