The Reds have also had their eye on FC Koln youngster Timo Horn, who has been impressing in recent times for both the Bundesliga club and the Germany Under-21s.
However, landing the 21-year-old looks unlikely as Horn looks set to sign a new deal and extend his stay in Cologne.
Therefore Begovic and Cech are being looked at instead, with both ‘keepers likely to leave their respective Premier League clubs should an offer from the Merseysiders come in.
The former has found first team opportunities hard to come by at Stamford Bridge this season since the return of Thibaut Courtois and has been linked with several top sides.
Despite the fact Blues manager Jose Mourinho insists he does not want to sell Cech, the 32-year-old will not be happy continuing to play second fiddle to Courtois for much longer.
As for Begovic, although the 27-year-old’s form has dropped somewhat this term the Bosnia & Herzegovina international has been considered among the best ‘keepers in the English top tier for some time.
Brendan Rodgers is looking for competition for Mignolet who has looked increasingly erratic and unreliable in 2014/15, whilst backup stopper Brad Jones is not deemed good enough.
