The midfielder’s manager has told the midfielder has focused on his own game rather than offers from abroad…
Arsenal are facing hot competition in the race for William Carvalho, according to Goal.
The Sporting midfielder was the subject of a £21.3m bid from the Gunners in August, which proved insufficient to secure his services, and if they make another offer they are unlikely to be the only team doing so, according to Sporting’s manager Marco Silva:
“William is a target for English teams, but I want him to play his game… William has many offers. Let’s wait until January.”

The defensive midfielder would fit into Arsenal’s starting XI perfectly, but Arsene Wenger may be put off if a bidding war breaks out and the player’s price rises too high. The Sporting midfielder looks set to move for at least£25m, which may prove too much for the notoriously frugal Arsenal boss.
The 22-year-old seems cut out for the Premier League, and his physical style and amazing fitness suit the English game well. While his form has dipped somewhat this year, his manager insisted:
“He’s not playing at the same level as last season because last season he was a surprise.”
Carvalho is currently in England with his Sporting CP teammates as they prepare to take on Chelsea in the Champions League tonight.
