United face battle to sign top van Gaal target.
Manchester United may have been dealt a setback in their pursuit of world class Atletico Madrid centre-back Diego Godin, with Fichajes.net reporting that the Spanish champions are determined not to sell the player.

The Uruguayan international has long been one of the most solid defenders in Europe, and was in particularly inspirational form last season as he helped Atletico to the La Liga title and Champions League final, showing an eye for the odd important goal along the way as a bonus.
Godin is now wanted by United as Louis van Gaal looks for big names to strengthen at the back, with injuries and a lack of form affecting a number of his players in that department this season.
Still, Atletico lost a number of their best players in the summer, with Chelsea raiding the Vicente Calderon for Diego Costa and Filipe Luis, while goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois also left the club to return to Stamford Bridge after three years on loan.
Godin is the latest big name linked with an exit, but manager Diego Simeone seems set on keeping the player at all costs.
