Marouane Fellaini’s strength and aerial ability are proving invaluable for Louis Van Gaal at the moment, and the Belgian giant came up trumps again today, firing in a towering header at the far post to give United the lead.

But a tough Stoke side weren’t dispirited, and Steven N’Nonzi lashed a loose ball into the far side of the Manchester net with impressive calmness.

United then pushed forward, but were unable to get a breakthrough until a well-hit Juan Mata free-kick sailed past everyone into the Stoke goal. Marcos Rojo could have got the slightest of touches as the ball came in, but it’s almost impossible to tell.

Stoke fought back, and had plenty of good chances to win the game. The Potters were denied by an inspired David De Gea however, who made this incredible save as the aerial barrage continued.

A fourth win on the bounce for Man United, whose form continues to improve.
