Reds to miss out on Ligue 1 attacker.

Liverpool could be set to miss out on one of their top transfer targets for January as Paris Saint-Germain foreward Ezequiel Lavezzi would appear to favour a move to Napoli, according to French source Le Figaro.

The Argentine attacker has been linked with Premier League clubs a number of times in the past, but it seems that he would prefer to make a return to Serie A, where he first made a name for himself at the top level of European football.

Lavezzi was a big player during his time at Napoli, though he has not quite managed to replicate that fine form since moving to PSG, though he has still shown moments of class to attract interest from big clubs.

Liverpool are in need of improvements in attack this season after a difficult start to the campaign, largely down to the loss of Luis Suarez to Barcelona in the summer and Daniel Sturridge’s repeated injury problems.

Lavezzi can play in a variety of roles upfront or out wide and could have been a decent solution for the Reds, but if he is to leave the Parc des Princes this winter it seems more likely that it will be to return to his old club.
