Manchester United are tipped to beat Arsenal to the signing of Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels this January, according to the Daily Mail.

The German international has been strongly linked as a top target for both clubs in recent times, with Arsene Wenger and Louis van Gaal both known to be in the market for players who could improve their sides’ performances at the back.
The 25-year-old looks the ideal candidate for either side as he looks to be available for the right price this winter, with £32m thought to be enough to persuade struggling Dortmund to sell the player.
However, it would seem that Arsenal are less willing to pay that amount as Wenger looks like dithering in the transfer market once again and worrying about paying over the odds for top quality players.
United are less concerned about Hummels’ asking price, however, and look likely to go ahead with a deal to bring him to Old Trafford this winter in what looks like a superb move by van Gaal in the transfer market once again.
The Dutchman spent big on some exciting signings during the summer, most notably Angel Di Maria, who arrived from Real Madrid.
