The Argentine, now with Manchester City and regarded as one of the best attacking players in world football, was eyed up by a number of top clubs from a young age, after first becoming a regular for Independiente in 2003, when he was still only 15.
Aguero instead made the move to Atletico Madrid when he decided to leave his home country for a career in Europe, and later moved to the Premier League in a £38m switch to big-spending City.
However, he could have ended up at another English club earlier, with Liverpool, United and Chelsea all spurning the chance to snap him up at a young age, as he was deemed to be too expensive.
Independiente were not to keen to part with their prized asset on the cheap, and their demands scared these clubs off, as well as other big European clubs Real Madrid, Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan.
Aguero scored a sensational hat-trick against Bayern Munich in the Champions League this week, continuing his fine start to the season.
