The Premier League champions have endured a difficult start to this season and already face a fight to retain their title as current league leaders Chelsea look set to run away with it this term.
Still, Cuadrado could be a signing that makes a big difference to City’s fortunes, with the 26-year-old showing himself to be one of the most exciting wingers in Europe at the moment.
The Colombian international lit up Serie A last season before shining for his national side at this summer’s World Cup, putting himself on the radar of United and several other top clubs around the continent.
City are the latest to show an interest, with Manuel Pellegrini keen to liven up his attack this season after a dip in form from crucial players such as Yaya Toure, Edin Dzeko and Samir Nasri.
Cuadrado can move for around £28m after signing a new contract with a release clause at Fiorentina, and this may prove a good price to pay for such a superbly skillful wide-player.
