England player ratings from their comfortable 3-1 international friendly victory over Scotland at Celtic Park, with goals from Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Wayne Rooney of Manchester United.
Oxlade-Chamberlain goal v Scotland
Rooney header v Scotland
Rooney second goal v Scotland
Fraser Forster: 6/10
In truth, had very little to do. We might have given him seven had he had a save to make.
Nathaniel Clyne: 7/10
Got up and down the right flank well, despite the searing pace on the left wing of the Scottish attack. Already looks more composed than Glen Johnson and Kyle Walker, if you’ll forgive the knee jerk reaction.
Gary Cahill: 6/10
Kept Scotland’s attack at bay, and kept things simple when the ball came to him.
Chris Smalling: 6/10
Smalling looked untroubled until Patrick Robertson waltzed into the box after a tame Raheem Sterling attempt at a challenge, but failed to cover when he should have spotted the danger.
Luke Shaw: 6/10
Yet to completely find his feet since moving to Manchester United, but showed glimpses of his potential – in particular when winning the ball deep in his own half before a powerful run down the left wing almost sent Rooney clear.
