The 26 year old French international enjoyed a superb season last term and has been very effective during the current campaign though the former Lyon man is still not sure of his standing at the Spanish giants.
By all accounts Benzema was not best pleased at president Florentino Perez’s pursuit, albeit unsuccessful, of Uruguayan Luis Suarez and may fear that Real Madrid may target another forward when the transfer window reopens.
Benzema is certainly a regular under Carlo Ancelotti and the sale of Gonzalo Higuain in the summer of 2013 has left the way clear for the powerful forward, not least as Alvaro Morata moved on to Juventus in July, and he has not been found wanting.
Last term Benzema racked up 24 goals and showed his importance to the team with 14 assists and has already weighed in with 11 goals and six assists in 2014/15.
Though Wenger has brought in Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck to boost his attack he may see Benzema as a central striking weapon, preferable to Olivier Giroud who is considered by some to be one-dimensional and certainly not a prolific goal-scorer.
