The American side hope he will sign a loan deal until June 2015, when they current ‘keeper Tally Hall is expected to return after a serious knee ligament injury.
A problem arises due to Butland’s England U-21 commitments. He is currently expected to captain the side at the European Under-21 championships in Prague which takes place in the last two weeks of June next year, meaning he would only agree to a MLS transfer if he is guaranteed to be released for the event.
