The 26-year-old has been sidelined since the start of October with a knee injury.
Ozil has missed six games so far and he is expected to sit out another eight matches at least, including next week’s home clash with Manchester United, as well as tricky trips to Stoke City and Liverpool in December.
“I’m already injured five weeks and will be missing seven more weeks,” Ozil told Spiegel Online. “It’s been a very long time.”
Prior to injuring his knee, Ozil had made nine appearances for the Gunners this season, scoring one goal.
Last term, he netted seven times in 40 club games.
Ozil is not the only player currently on Arsenal’s injury list.
Striker Olivier Giroud and right-back Mathieu Debuchy are out with ankle problems, while Mikel Arteta is struggling with a hamstring complaint.
Centre-half Laurent Koscielny has a calf strain and goalkeeper David Ospina has been ruled out until January with a thigh issue.
