The French international, who only left Newcastle United for a move to PSG last winter in an £18m deal, is unhappy with his current role in Laurent Blanc’s side, having failed to establish himself as a regular during his time at the Parc des Princes.
Cabaye faces plenty of competition for places in PSG’s star-studded squad, and may now be keen to move back to the Premier League this season in a bid to get regular first-team action again.
Arsenal and Liverpool were recently linked with the 28-year-old, but United could also show an interest now as Louis van Gaal looks to improve his options in midfield.
The Red Devils spent big during the summer and could be ready to do so again this winter, with AS Roma star Kevin Strootman also believed to be one of the club’s top targets in that part of the pitch.
Cabaye shone in his first spell in English football and could make a top signing if he is available this January.
