Yet despite losing 1-0 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu the supposed reserves gave a good account of themselves, so CaughtOffside decided to see which Premier League side in the competition would do the best with their backup options.
Arsenal
The defence leaves much to be desired as Arsene Wenger has very few first team options at the back currently and although Calum Chambers and Nacho Monreal have shown some good form, relying on them could prove costly.
Going forward things look a little more promising, although Yaya Sanogo leading an attack isn’t likely to strike fear into any teams with the 21-year-old still having failed to score his first competitive goal for the Gunners.
