The England international has been watching from the sidelines since suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in January against Tottenham Hotspur, but finally made his return to full training recently and was hoping to be in line for a start.
He was on the bench last week during the 2-0 win over Sunderland, but was an unused substitute and didn’t make it onto the pitch.
It looks like he will be on the bench for the second week running as the Gunners host Burnley, with Wenger believing the pacy forward needs more time before being thrown back in.
