The Colombian is currently on a £6m season-long loan with the Red Devils, but reports are suggesting that everything is ‘agreed and in place’ to make the switch permanent come the summer.

It is understood that the £44m fee – as well as Falcao’s £240,000 per week wages were agreed upon when the two sides struck up the initial agreement to send him to Old Trafford on loan for the season.

Both sides now expect the deal to go through and Falcao himself has been fairly vocal in his desire to stay at the club beyond next May.

However, United are under no obligation to buy, so should Falcao fail to find form or suffer a relapse of his knee injury which kept him out for six months last season, Louis van Gaal’s side can still pull the plug.

The Colombian international has only scored once in five appearances for the Red Devils so far this term.
